Leaves of Legacy Project
One of the hardest things I've ever experienced is watching my father's life stolen by dementia. He was my hero growing up, a man of immeasurable strength, intelligence, compassion, and love, and he lived an incredible life. As his memories fade, I have taken to writing his life story for my own sake, for my children, and the rest of our family. This led to the idea of creating the Leaves of Legacy project. As I , a book written about the life of someone living with Dementia, Alzheimers, or any other incapacitating illness. My idea is to interview those suffering from the illness, as well as their loved ones, in a comfortable setting, to chronicle and, most importantly, honor the life of that individual. This can be done in as many or as few sessions as necessary. The completed book will feature different chapters in the individual's life, family memories, photos, and anything else the family would like to record. At the end of the The goal at the end is to create a professionally-bound book for the family to have as a keepsake, one they can revisit over the years and hopefully find joy and comfort from reliving their loved-one. While there will be a slight charge for time and resources, I plan to donate half the proceeds to the Alzheimer's Association.
